Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Success also means he has won 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on court had prompted observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an better serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
